Artist Spotlight: FRANK TURNER

it's not often that i find a combination of two of my guilty pleasures wrapped into one: good acoustic music and a punk rock "im going to do this my way" mentality. Not many artists can pull this off at all, let alone pull it off well. One who can do it better than almost anyone currently is England's Frank Turner.

After the demise of his former band, Million Dead, Turner decided to pick up an acoustic and began performing solo in 2007. Showcasing his wit through some of the most honest songwriting i have heard in music to date, Frank Turner writes straight ahead no-nonsense acoustic punk rock. His 2006 10" vinyl release "Campfire Punkrock" is one of my most listened to records in my collection, and his latest release is "Poetry of the Deed" is sure to become one of the best independent records of 2009.

Frank is one of those artitsts that can span multiple genres. His live show works just as well on arena tours with The Offspring and The Gaslight Anthem as it does in small intimate club settings with 25 people watching. He can play with punk bands and rock bands one night and with acoustic singer-songwriters the next. He is that kind of artitst.

Long story short, Frank Turner is a great artist with a great voice and great mentality that plays great music.
