So, some combination of recording in Garageband, surfing the web, and playing back music led my browser to crash as I created my playlist, and then my entire computer died momentarily. It's a scary thing when a MacBook Pro acts erratically. Makes one lose faith in technology. Even Steve Jobs isn't perfect...
